Or, maybe you’re already a business owner who is looking to add another stream of income to your business without it interfering with what you already do. If that’s the case, then it’s all about passive income baby. I’m going to share the 3 Ways I Make Passive Income, and how you can do it too.

3 Ways I Make Passive Income through Information Products
Now let me just say this up front. Passive income is a word that a lot of people are throwing around these days. And I want to be clear about what passive income is. It’s when you set up a stream of income where you make money when you’re sleeping, when you’re at your day job, or when you’re waiting in line at school drop-off.
So yes, you will need to put in some work on the front end. Then you can reap the rewards on the backend. Any time that someone on the internet tells you that you can make passive income from doing nothing at all is lying to you. It’s a classic Ponzi scheme turned into online marketing. Don’t believe it. But know that it’s possible. If you put in the work, and show up. Ff you’re consistent, and if you keep going, then passive income is possible for you.
Information Products
The first way I make passive income is through information products. Info products are things like e-books, or courses. It’s anything that helps you take the knowledge that you have in your brain and impart it to others.
Now you might be thinking, okay Lindsay, we’re off to a terrible start because I really don’t know what I would teach others! But hear me out. There are things that you know how to do that other people are dying to know. And they’ll pay you to find out. Don’t believe me? There are people selling information products about: writing, gardening, marketing, cooking, social media, mom hacks, scrapbooking, hiking, dog training, and more.
Information products can help you make a ton of money and it’s not a huge job to set them up. The reason for this is because you’re using the knowledge and skills that you’ve already acquired.
Examples of Great Information Products
So how can you find out what wisdom you could make money imparting to others through information products? Well, the first way is to think about the questions that everyone’s always coming to you about. What are your friends and family always asking you how to do? What are things that seem to come easily to you that may not come as easily to others? That is where you want to start.
Let me give you an example. You know how women are always wondering how Jennifer Lopez or certain celebrities look so good at their age? I think that someone in the skincare industry could make a TON of money just selling an informative product detailing all the regimens and measures they take to look that way. Because how many times do they pretend that they’re not doing certain things? Why not put it all in an information product and sell it?
I sure as heck would buy that. Wouldn’t you? But I realize that’s a very specific product for someone in a very specific industry. But can you see how someone’s knowledge can be so valuable to others, without it even being related to buying an actual product or service? Knowledge is valuable my friend, and people will pay you to learn things that they don’t know.
Affiliate Marketing: 3 Ways I Make Passive Income
The next way I make passive income is through affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing is when you encourage someone else to buy something through your unique link. Then you make a portion of the money from that product.
You can do this by sharing your links on a YouTube channel, on a blog, in emails, or with friends and family. The awesome thing about affiliate marketing is that you promote products you already love with people. And you’ll know that when they buy it, you can stand behind it.
An Example of How I Make Money Using Affiliate Marketing
A great example of affiliate marketing is one of my videos from my YouTube channel called The Best Printer for Heavy Cardstock. The reason that I make money off of that particular video is because of my intent behind it. Because I couldn’t find a good printer that would print on heavy cardstock, I did hours and hours of research finding the right one. And I realized that other people could have benefited from that same information. So, I decided to share the knowledge with other people so that they didn’t have to do as much research as me.
Now I make money whenever people purchase it. and I get comments on that video about how it was super helpful to people. I love that I get rewarded for truly helping other people find what they’re looking for. If you’re thinking about trying it out, make sure that the things you decide to become affiliates for are already products and services you already love.
Selling Printables on Etsy: 3 Ways I Make Passive Income
if you’ve been around here a while, you probably already know I think this is hands down the best way to make passive income on the internet. Why? Because literally, ANYONE can do it. A blog isn’t necessary. You don’t need to be an influencer. And You don’t need to be good at making videos on YouTube. And you don’t need to really be good at anything. People on Etsy are buying printables of all kinds, in all styles, from sellers who have no design background. But those who are already creative, it’s a great way to use that skill to make money. I have a blast designing and an even better time watching the money come in while I’m working, while I’m with my daughter, and while I sleep.

So the moral of today’s pep talk is that starting a side hustle or a business, or whatever it is that you want to call it, can bring you so much happiness and fulfillment that you never thought possible.
