Remember the days where you took a trip and didn’t have anyone to worry about but yourself? My husband and I were just talking about how as little as five years ago, we didn’t have so much as a house plant to look after – which made traveling, and life in general, such a breeze. If only someone had told me to “enjoy these years”, as much as they do now. Amiright?
Nowadays travel is planned way in advance and no one is good enough to watch our dog, let alone babysit our actual human child.
Maybe that’s why it took me over two years to go on my first official girls trip after my daughter was born. Maybe it was the postpartum depression. Or perhaps it was the fact that it literally took me that long to get my body back after pregnancy. Anyone else???!
Whatever the reason, I did it. I got a spray tan, grabbed a subscription to Rent the Runway Unlimited (maybe the best thing EVER!), got a round of botox, whitened my teeth, a mani/pedi, and even tried my hand at eyelash extensions (which I LOVE BTW!), and hopped on a plane with three girls, one very large suitcase filled with too many pairs of shoes, a whole lot of mom guilt, and party decorations (of course!), and headed to my Moms getaway with a dream of no hangovers.
My husband stayed home with our babies (fur and human), and I pursued a weekend that was boozy and scantily clad in Sin City…

Check out this Facebook Live I did just before we left. I show you what I was able to get in my Rent The Runway Unlimited box to take with me on the big trip! I LOVED all my goodies! I also share about resounding mom guilt. Can you relate?

(P.S. This BB Dakota white romper I am wearing is from my Rent The Runway Unlimited Box! It was so cute!)
The plan, my friends, was simple. We would head to Vegas for a Moms trip but tell everyone we were there for a bachelorette party because, everyone loves bachelorette parties in Vegas, right? But who would the bride be? So we came up with the idea that we could just never find her. “She must be passed out in the hotel room”, we’d tell people. #wheresjen
It was genius, I tell you. Once people learned the truth, that we were there for no other reason but to parade around without kids in tow, they thought that was pretty freaking cool, and so did we.
So what’s the final verdict on our Bad Mom’s trip? Spoiler alert: my dream of no hangovers did not come true.

However, I did get to spend one full weekend pretending I was 22 again, with like-minded beautiful moms who can appreciate 48 hours sans diaper bags and the full value of getting a free steak dinner at Lavo Lounge in the Palazzo.

To sum up. It was a blast. And the girls did not scoff at my #badmoms party decor, which you can also get on my Etsy shop for YOUR next girls/moms trip! It includes, a banner, water bottle labels, straw flags and super cute champagne favor tags – all the necessities for a girls getaway!

As we limped around Vegas with our blistered feet, we realized that while we felt a little bit older than the last time we’d been to Vegas, somehow we were more confident than those 20-somethings next to us at the pool. We were still able to finagle our way into a cabana at Encore Beach Club, and managed to keep our pride intact. All wins if you ask me.

My Watercolor Floral Reversible Keyhole swimsuit bottom and off the shoulder top is from Splendid and I ended up ordering like three more Splendid suits because they are so freaking comfortable! Plus I love love LOVED the design and style!
We all agreed that it was a much needed trip away, allowing us to just be carefree and pretend we didn’t have a worry in the world, just like the old days. But we also acknowledged how great it was being home again with the family. Even if one of us forgot our keys in the hotel room and had to Uber back home, ship the keys, drive back to the airport and drive home yet again. Ah, life was back to normal.
One more thing we did decide though. Our next girls trip would involve a few more massages and little less alcohol 😉

Where are YOU going on your next girls trip?!
