You might think it all depends on getting an expensive printer, but think again! Most people think it’s all about the printer. Lightweight Cardstock Option: Best Paper for Printing Invitations at Home

The very first invitation paper I’ll tell you about is my absolute favorite. It’s a 5 x 7 option that allows for no measuring or cutting. It’s the InkPress Media 5 x 7 Paper. This paper is perfect if you don’t want to mess with measuring or cutting because it’s pre-cut to 5 x 7 inches! The most important thing about it is that it has a beautiful matte finish and all colors printed on this paper (including black) look absolutely fabulous and vibrant. Like I said, this is my favorite paper. The only issue with it is that it’s pretty lightweight. If you’re fine with that great, but if you want some thicker cardstock, keep listening for more heavier weight options in just a bit.

Best Paper for Printing Invitations at Home When You Don’t Have A Borderless Printer

But first, your next question might be – what if my printer doesn’t do borderless printing? I get that because I have been there. That means you can’t print directly onto a 5 x 7 invitation. Not to worry, Luckily, the bright and vibrant paper that I just told you about also comes in 8.5 x 11, giving you the option to get the same great quality, vibrant colors, and matte finish, but in a larger size. This will allows you to print two invitations per sheet and then cut them out when you aren’t working with a borderless printer. And you can print other things on this great paper as well.

Thicker Cardstock Options for Invitations

But what if you want something with a little more texture, elegance, and weight? That is what I personally was looking for when it came to printing at home. You want that super professional heavyweight paper that you can print at some of those online shops, amiright? If so, let’s talk about a few options.

First is the Hamilco Linen Cardstock. This 5 x 7 invitation paper has a subtle, high-end linen texture that makes your invitations feel a little fancier—perfect for weddings or any upscale event. The weight of this paper is 80 lb, which means it’s nice and sturdy but still works with most home printers.

And finally, if you want your invitations to feel super premium and extra thick, but without a textured finish, this is the one for you.

The Ultra Thick 5 x 7 Cardstock. This luxurious, heavyweight cardstock will make your invitations feel like they came straight from a high-end print shop.

Know Before Your Print on Heavy Cardstock Invitations

But here’s the catch—not all printers can handle thick cardstock. Before you grab this one, make sure your printer can actually handle the weight. Otherwise, you might end up with paper jams and cursing at the top of your lungs. Believe me, I’ve been there.
