I’ve got a few ideas of how you can make your own baby book below. You’ll have to decide what your priorities are in order to decide what baby book idea is best for you.
How to Make Your Own Baby Book With a Custom Binder
When you purchase a baby book like the Amazon Baby Book’s I have listed below, although adorable, and totally usable, everything is too set in stone. Meaning, you can’t move the pages around. You also can’t easily add additional pages from the hospital, your pediatrician, or your preschool to the book. And as a mom of a young child, I know how many of those extra pages and ideas have come into my life since my daughter was born.

And that’s why you need the flexibility of a binder option to add and remove pages to your baby book with ease. I talk much more about this option and what you’ll need for a binder baby book in my blog, DIY Baby Book.
How to Make Your Own Baby Book With A Happy Planner
Another option for a living baby book is a Happy Planner! Someone told me about happy planners and now I am obsessed! The reason why a Happy Planner works so well for a baby book is that it has these things called discs. The discs allow you to add, remove, and rearrange pages with ease! It’s the MOST perfect solution for a baby book.
Baby Boy Baby Book Pages: DIY Baby Book
Take the stress out of being a mom with this EDITABLE and PRINTABLE baby book page bundle to make your own baby book!
Here’s what’s included in the Baby Boy Baby Book Pages:
- Editable Baby Book Cover
- Editable Major Milestones Page
- Editable Baby’s Big Arrival Page
- Non-Editable Little Feet Page (Capture your baby’s footprints)
- Editable On The Day You Were Born Page
- Editable First Impressions and Reactions Page
- Editable Weekly Journal Updates (One for the first week, and one to edit for all other weeks.)
- Editable Monthly Journal Updates
(See below for details and instructions about these baby girl baby book pages and how to edit your files.)
If you want to rearrange the pages, or go back and insert photos from a particular occasion or milestone, you are never locked in to the current arrangement of the book. Plus, there are SO many cute Happy Planners to choose from. Here’s a few ideas below, but there are plenty more Happy Planner options on Amazon!
In order to add other pages to the book, you’ll want to get a Happy Planner hole puncher so that you can hole punch pages that come from school or the doctor and add them to the book. There are plenty more Happy Planner accessories to go with it that make it fun and totally usable for a baby book! You can grab dividers, pages with pockets, and different sized hole punchers to make it completely personalized to what you need.
I guess the only real downside of using a Happy Planner for your baby book is that you would have to hole punch some very special pages that you might not want to. In that case, I would go back to the binder idea because you can place each page in page protectors and not worry about hole punching any precious keepsake pages.
Make it Online
The next idea is making a book for your baby online that is kind of a scrapbook generator. I loved this idea because it’s much more professional looking and pretty gorgeous. It’s pretty self explanatory, but you basically just upload all your pictures and text and then have it printed. Shutterfly has some amazing deals and coupons, as well as a very good user experience. Therefore, I highly recommend using Shutterfly to print your online baby book. I really thought my daughter’s baby book turned out son wonderful.
Reasons an Online Baby Book Might Not Be The Best Option For You
However, I’ll be frank. This idea is actually not for everyone. For one, it’s very time consuming. Although it seems like an easier option then the first two, there’s a lot of things that make it more a bit more difficult. For example, you have to be somewhat good at design and designing pages in Shutterfly can take hours. Don’t get me wrong. I love it! But if you don’t, it may not work for you. Also, as a new mom and/or a working mom, you might not have the time.
The other con is that you can only do this after the year is already over, which can feel super daunting. What I mean by this is that you print it all together after the year is over. Technically, you could login to your Shutterfly account each month and upload the pictures. This is obviously ideal, but let’s be honest. Life happens and then we get a few months behind and then it’s overwhelming.
And lastly, of course this kind of book won’t be able to hold the actual birth certificate or the footprints that you get from the hospital. That’s why I did both versions
