With my daughter being born in February, I can relate to the winter birthday party theme dilemma. Not only are all her birthday parties typically rained out, but her Royal Baby Shower was a completely drenched event as well! A winter or early spring birthday means no easy casual park get together’s, pool parties, or backyard barbecues. That’s why I have put together a few indoor kids party themes for winter that your kids will love, while keeping you warm and cozy inside during the winter season.
Indoor Kids Party Themes: A Ballerina or Tutu Party
It’s tutu cute! A ballerina party is one of the great indoor kids party themes for winter. In fact, we threw this pink ballerina party for my little ballethreena not too long ago.
A Ballerina party is not only adorable, but it is SO much fun for little girls (and boys!) to dance their sillies out. Read about another purple tutu party here! You can host it at a local ballet or dance studio, and the kids will have so much fun dancing! And because it’s not at your house, you don’t have to clean up! (Thank you, God.)

What cool kid doesn’t want to ride in a cool car? That’s why this Yellow and Black Luxury Car Party has been such a big hit. You can read all about the yellow supercar party right here.
This is one of the best ideas for indoor kids party themes for winter. It keeps the kids indoors and out of the cold. But most importantly, out of your house!
I found so many indoor racetracks all around the country that could work for your racing or car-themed party! K1 Racing has driving locations all over the US. Umigo Racing is in the Bay Area, Kartland resides in the Texas area, Thunderbolt is in Virginia, Traxx Racing is in Seattle, Unserkarting is in Denver. Indoor Kids Party Themes: Music Party
You’re invited to scream and shout, and let it all out! A music or DJ party is one of the great indoor kids party themes for winter!
In fact, we threw this kids music party that was a such a huge hit for my two year old, and it was so much fun! There are so many great ideas for a music-themed kids party. This was a DJ party and you can get all of the DJ and Music party decorations on Etsy.
A kids music party could easily be thrown at home with a bunch of Melissa and Doug instruments (shown below!). You can also hire a local music teacher to come to your home and play some tunes for the kids!
But if you’re looking to get out of your house and avoid the mess and clean up, I recommend a local kids music studio (which I am totally on board with!), we love Gymboree Play and Music. They have a plethora of fun singing and dancing activities that your kids with love! If you don’t have one in your area, I’m sure there are plenty of other music party options for you to choose from.
And don’t forget to get in on the theme with your outfits. I talk all about making this adorable DJ dress in the music party blog.
