As a party decorations designer who sold printed and shipped party decorations that I made with my Cricut, I didn’t think selling printables was for me. Can you relate to that? There was so much fear around it. But now that I have transitioned my party decorations business completely to printables, it’s funny to think back now about How I sold My Very First Printable on Etsy, and how long it still took me to make the commitment to fully transform my business.

How it all started : How I Sold My Very First Printable on Etsy
When I started selling party decorations in 2017, one of the first themes that I worked on was a mountain-themed baby shower party pack- it includes everything from banners to games, signs, etc.
For some unknown reasons (until now), I randomly decided to list the 8×10 Momosa Bar Poster as a digital item on Etsy.
This was unusual because I print and ship all of my orders.
Once I listed the digital sign on Etsy, I totally forgot about it. I went back to my normal life – cutting, gluing, and shipping all of the party decorations. Lol.
Then, some days later, I was shopping at Marshalls, which is one of my favorite stores E.V.E.R. I vividly remember that I was in the throw pillow section. Suddenly, I heard a CHA-CHING sound on my phone from ETSY. I was expecting to find an order where I had to run home and get to work with my Cricut and glue gun.
But to my surprise, I had sold the Momosa Bar Sign! And it was a whole SEVEN dollars! It made my shopping experience that much more fun knowing that I had sold something without actively selling!
Now, you would think that this would have been my breakthrough moment where I realized that I should start selling more of my decorations as printables.
But sadly, it didn’t dawn on me at all.
I waited almost 2 entire years to start fully committing to the idea of selling printables.
And why did I wait so long?
Fear.
