The Old Cricut Desk Setup

First of all, I have loved my Cricut cutting machine ever since the day I brought it home to start my handmade party decorations business. But I didn’t love the way I incorporated it into my craft room and office from day one.
When I first arranged my Cricut in my office, I placed it on the Alex Ikea Drawer set, shown in the picture above. (Here’s a similar dupe on Amazon.) These were great for storage of all my craft supplies and were a great place to set the Cricut cutting machine. At that same time, I also purchased these Large Ikea Micke desks, which I love because not only are they simple and gorgeous, but they are SO big (Seen in the photo below). These white desks also offer ample work space for me to do craft projects, homework with my daughter, etc. You can also check out this small Micke Ikea Desk on Amazon, which is the exact same desk, but smaller. It’s the perfect crafting desk for a small space.

The Search for a Better Cricut Desk Setup
This Cricut setup worked perfectly for a while, and still could be a great idea for your office or craft room if you don’t need any extra space. I, however, soon realized this setup was taking up valuable desktop real estate. So I decided I needed a better storage solution for my Cricut.
So I went on the hunt for other Cricut storage ideas. I quickly noticed that other crafters and DIYers like to use a rolling craft cart to store their Cricut. However, I’ll be honest. That’s just not my style. I like a clean, white craft room, where everything isn’t out in the open. Maybe you can relate to this. I wanted to find something that allowed my Cricut to be ready for use, but not take up too much desk space, and most importantly, feel like it was “put away” when I wasn’t using it.

A Better Storage Solution for Your Cricut
That’s when I had the idea to put something underneath the desk that my Cricut could sit on.
I was able to find this ClosetMaid KidSpace Storage bench. I wanted it to would fit the length of my Cricut and fit underneath the desk so that the Cricut could still open and function properly. It turns out it worked perfectly!

I now have more desk space to place my laptop or whatever else I need it for. Additionally, all the 12 x 12 Cricut Cutting Mats and Cricut tools fit perfectly inside the drawer above it!

If you’re looking for some great drawer organizers that fit in the Alex drawers, these drawer organizers fit perfectly inside.

More Storage and Organization Options for Your Cricut
After having the above setup for a while, I wanted to switch things up again in my craft room. Specifically because I had found this amazing paper organizer storage.

So to make the paper organizers work, I opted to switch the ClosetMaid KidSpace Storage bench with the Closetmaid Cube Organizer. But as it turned out, both of the pieces fit perfectly under the larger desks.

Can you imagine having a whole wall of these paper organizers? If you can’t, check out this craft room that has been on my vision board and craft room Pinterest Board for years! Clearly it’s all starting to manifest!

So, this is how I like to organize my Cricut desk setup and I love how it turned out! I hope this will help you get organized with your new or loved Cricut cutting machine in your craft room.
