There’s a principle I believe in that’s been responsible for my success on Etsy. I didn’t actually realize I believed it until a mentor of mine said it to me. When I heard it, I was like, THAT is what has made me successful- both in life AND in business. It’s the reason I was able to build my printables business to 20K in one year on Etsy, and so many other things. The #1 Principle To Live By For Success on Etsy
You ready for the principle? Here it is. It’s the belief that anything is possible 100% of the time. So you can write on your affirmation card: 100% possible, 100% of the time.
Now, I know what you’re thinking. “Okay, so you just want me to believe that anything is possible? Isn’t that just the lie that we were told when we were little?”
And the answer to that is yes. We were told that we could be anything we wanted when we were little. But so many limitations were passed down to us that we were not able to adopt this belief. And because of that, we now think that it’s not true.
How This Principle Has Helped me in My Personal Life & Business
I look back and realized that I’ve been applying this principle from a very early age, and it’s helped me create miracles in my life. In college, I applied for this super coveted internship at a public relations firm in San Francisco and got it out of thousands of applicants. After college I tried out to be an NFL cheerleader 3 times. (I never got the role, but the fact that I believed I could, was kind of impressive, no?)
I’ve gotten on people’s podcasts that I never thought I could. I have generated over $100,000 on Etsy. In the last few years, I’ve started a successful coaching business even though I’d never had any experience being a coach. And this is not to brag or toot my own horn. My point is to show you that having any success in any of these things is all because I had the courage to believe it was all possible for me.
Don’t Stop at Belief
So okay, maybe you’re thinking that you can start to believe that more is possible for you. You can start to expand your mind about a vision for the future that’s bigger than you’ve been imagining. But I don’t want you to just stay there. Oh no, my friend. Because it’s not just the belief that’s going to get you there.
That’s where the book and the movie, The Secret, didn’t do a great job inspiring people. It showed people closing their eyes and imagining a Ferrari, only to open then and see the car sitting in front of them. And people think that they can just believe that their dream job or house is going to come to them. Perhaps it works this way when you become a master manifester floating three feet above the ground. But until that time, here’s the plan…
You’ve got to take action. You have to do the “next best thing” to get where you want to be. So, do you want to sell printables? Start designing. Take a course (maybe mine?! lol) that helps you get started. Buy the software program. Start looking at other printables on Etsy. Do you want a house? Start looking at the neighborhoods you want to be in. Research the schools. Get really familiar with what it is that you want.
What Starts to Happen
When you start to take action, something amazing happens. You start to see opportunities and ideas that are aligned with your vision. Ideas pop into your head in the shower or on a walk. You get an intuitive hit to check Zillow, look up a certain job, or contact an old coworker. From there, seemingly magical things start to happen. You get a great job, you find an amazing house, you sell a printable. The ball gets rolling and pretty soon the things you once prayed for are just everyday occurrences in your life.
When you take action, you’re putting yourself in the frequency of someone who already has the things that you want. Once you are on that frequency, you’ll see miracles and amazing things happen in your life!
