The Best Paper for Digital Party Decorations: Printing
Whenever I’m designing a party in my Etsy shop or here on my website, there are a few different types of paper I use for DIY Party Decorations. The first is the kind that you print on. Whether you’re making a banner, a sign, or a guest book, you’ll likely be printing something from your printer. As you’ll find out from reading some of my other blogs like, The Best Paper for Invitations, the paper you use is very important. It’s the key to getting vibrant colors that stand out on your party decorations.
Therefore, I want to show you the two paper products I use for printing my party decorations.
Inkpress Duo Matte Paper: Not only is this a great paper for vibrant colors, but it’s also double sided. This means that you can print on both sides if you wanted to, and it would look good on both sides. Additionally, if you’re using a Cricut, it never tears when I am using my print and cut feature.
Epson Ultra Matte Premium Presentation Paper: This is also great paper in terms of the thickness and brightness of the paper. It prints quality and vibrant colors every time. This particular paper is one-sided. This means that this paper is bright white on one side, but a little more yellow on the backside. (i.e. the backside won’t look good.) This Epson paper comes in a double sided option as well.
The Best Paper for Digital Party Decorations: Cardstock for Crafting
Beautiful cardstock paper is good to have on hand for crafting as well as DIY Party Decorations! And there are so many options to get cardstock from! However, when your local Michaels, Hobby Lobby, or Joann’s Craft Store is lacking on the exact color of cardstock paper you’re looking for, Amazon is the place to get it! Therefore, here’s what I use for my DIY party decorations:
- Clear Path Paper: Clearpath paper is some of the best cardstock paper for your cricut that I have been using from Amazon. It comes in many different weights, including, 110, 80 and 65 lbs. It also comes in every color imaginable.
- Pink Lemonade Cardstock Paper: This paper all comes in 65 lbs. and has great colors. You can use your “Cardstock setting” on your Cricut with this paper weight.
- Jam Paper: Jam paper is also another good one to try. (However, I don’t recommend the 24 lb. light cardstock paper, because it seems a bit too light and may not work with your Cricut.)
- Recollections Heavy Cardstock Paper: Popular at Michaels, this heavy cardstock paper weighs in at 110 lbs. It’s great for Cricut projects that need extra heavy paper. And this is pretty much the heaviest that it gets! (If you want to learn more about how they come up with paper weight for heavy cardstock paper, you might want to read The Best Printer for Heavy Cardstock Paper, where I explain just how they come up with that metric.)
Glitter Paper for Your DIY Party Decorations
And lastly, you’re going to want to use glitter cardstock to create some of your Digital Party Decorations! Because, #whodoesntloveglitter!?!?
I’ll tell you who! My husband. Yes, that’s right, he hates it. Can you relate?! What does this mean? It means that I must (under all circumstances) purchase glitter paper that does not shed the glitter! Therefore, it’s of utmost importance to me to get quality glitter paper. And to be honest, the best I have found thus far, is the Cricut Glitter paper. I mean, you get what you pay for, and this glitter paper is certainly high quality. I also like ordering it directly from Cricut because they are actually quick at shipping and these days, I’m trying hard to support businesses directly. ?
Other than benefiting from the fact that you won’t have glitter all over your house, you’ll also benefit from the fact that you can use the “Glitter Paper” setting. That way, there’s no guessing! In case you are an avid Amazon supporter, I have included links to those as well.
There you have it! All the kinds of paper you’ll need to DIY your party decorations!
