Using a Printing Service
As much as I love printing at home, there are times when I recommend using a printing service. After a lot of trial and error, I am confident in my recommendations to help you decide the best printer option for your party decoration needs.
Printing Large Posters
The very first question you should ask yourself when you are deciding to use a printing service or not is whether or not you are printing on a paper size larger than 8 x 10. If so, I highly recommend using a printing service like Walgreens. One of the main reasons I always encourage printing posters through Walgreens, is that they always have coupons. Secondly, you can order your print online and pick it up within the hour. Go straight to the source for A regular 16 x 20 Poster that you can frame or have it mounted on Posterboard.
Other Sizes and Invitations
I’m not sure if you know this about me, but I LOVE creating invitations for any event. Here are a few examples:

Sometimes it’s hard to know if there’s a trusted source when printing invitations. Therefore, if you are looking to have invitations professionally printed (for a baby shower, birthday party, retirement party, or any occasion!), I always recommend Vistaprint because they ship super quick and usually have great discount codes on their site!
Another Professional Printing Option
Next, have you heard of Prints of Love? They are wonderful! Prints of Love is similar to Vistaprint in that they offer simplicity, affordability, and speedy online printing services. You get high quality, professional printing without wasting your time or sacrificing your budget. They print, for instance, cards, signs, posters, custom samples, addressed envelopes, and outdoor signage. They’ve got it all! My absolute favorite part is that they address your envelopes. Hello, easy! If Prints of Love sounds like your best printer option, you should definitely check them out more.
Prints of love or Walgreens would be a great printing option for a large print like this one:

The Best Printer for Digital Party Decorations – at Home
My top reasons for printing at home are threefold. The first reason is that you can double check to make sure there aren’t any mistakes. Secondly, sometimes it is the cheaper route (yay for saving money on your party!). Thirdly, it’s super fun if you are a DIYer!
Printing Invitations at Home
First, let’s talk helpful resources for your printing at home needs. I recently wrote a blog on how to print invitations at home, which might be helpful to you. Additionally, I walk you through how to Easily Edit and Print a PDF Invitation if you have questions about that, as people often do!
If you are printing your invitation using heavy cardstock paper, that one can be a bit tricky. I am always printing on cardstock (like the heavy cardstock listed below) for my business, and it is frustrating finding the right printer for cardstock printing. That’s why, when I finally found the best printer for printing digital party decorations even on heavy cardstock paper, I had to tell everyone! Which is why I wrote another blog on the best printer for heavy cardstock paper, that you definitely might want to read if you are printing invitations on heavy cardstock paper.
The Best Printer for Digital Party Decorations
Need that post summed up for you? Here’s the deal. The Canon Pixma Pro-100 is the best printer for your digital party printing needs. I personally own and use this printer for all my personal and business cardstock printing. FYI – My husband found it on Slick Deals and got a way better price than this – to the tune of $75.00! (In other words, he’s my hero).
PROS:
- Prints on 110 LLB card stock paper
- Loads large paper from the back so it doesn’t crease the paper.
- Prints borderless
- Prints 5 x 7 and all the way up to 13 x 19
CONS:
- It’s Huge (Seriously)
- Doesn’t scan or copy
- Has trouble feeding through the 5 x 7 cards sometimes (and I have to practice my patience!)
- The ink is expensive. (Don’t fret! I give you some great tips for knockoff ink in my blog about the best printer for heavy cardstock paper.)

The Best Printer for Digital Party Decorations Like Banners, Cupcake Toppers, And More!
If your sign or banner is small enough to fit into your printer, I recommend printing at home. (Most of my printables, like digital cupcake toppers, digital favor tags, etc., will print on 8.5 x 11 size paper so you don’t have to worry about having a special printer.) For example, In my blog about how to print beautiful invitations, I talk all about how the kind of paper you use is the key to beautiful invitations. So make sure to head over and read more about that.
After You’ve Printed Your Party Decorations
Hooray! You printed your party decorations – at home, or professionally. Therefore, now comes the fun part. Assembly required! I have a ton of tutorials to help you to put them together. For example, how to create banners, how to create cupcake toppers, and how to create centerpiece sticks. Here’s your one-stop for all Party Decor Tutorial Videos.
Alternatively, you can also find the products I recommend for completing your DIY party decorations. I outline what kinds of paper to use for invitations, what sticker paper would work best for water bottle labels, and so much more.
